What is difference between Fail-stop and Crash? - Courses - Educative
Main Post: What is difference between Fail-stop and Crash? - Courses - Educative
Top Comment: After reading the differences between fail-stop and crash both looks same to me. There is no subtle difference between these two. In fail-stop node halts and in crash nodes also halts. In fail-stop, other nodes will come to know that a node has been halted when the node is unable to respond ...

Error 309. SteamVR Fail (and steamvr won't stop running after I quit out of it)
Main Post:
So Steam vr literally worked fine not even an hour ago. Now I try to run it, and I get this 309 error. Then when I try to quit out of it, the window closes, but steamvr still shows up as running. I use task manager to quit steam entirely, run steam vr again, same exact issue. I uninstall, then re-install. No change
And the steam vr window has these two weird loading bars in it, but is otherwise totally blank
Top Comment:
In task manager, did you scroll down to where the steam vr process is? I had this happen too, you have to start closing all the vr tasks and at some point it goes away.
Stop a Jenkins job, but don't fail / succeed it?
Main Post:
I'm trying to setup a Jenkins job (can be pipeline or not) that checks to see if there's a new version of a 7GB data file we use, and download it if there is. After the download, it extracts it, gzip's up the important bits into a ~200 MB artifact, saves it, then kicks off a down stream job IF there were updates to the 7 GB file.
Is there a good way to stop the build, and not kick off the downstream job other than failing the build if we already have the latest data? I don't like the idea of failing the job, it just feels like a hack.
Also, I want the lastSuccessful artifact to always be available to be pulled into docker builds.
Any thoughts?
Top Comment: Not sure how this would work from a pipeline, but you might be able to abort the job via POST. I think this would result in a neutral build, similar to when you click the X to cancel the build in the UI. https://wiki.jenkins.io/display/JENKINS/Aborting+a+build
I need to stop or complete or fail or kill or somehow end the "fishing expedition" quest.
Main Post:
This quest bugged out and is making ghouls spawn up my ass all the damn time and it is ruining my play through. How can I make them stop? I don't care about succeeding the quest or fish food. Just please help me make the ghouls stop spawning. I am in survival mode but I have a mod that enables console.
For future consideration: force spawning enemies on the player is a really really bad mechanic. Please never do this again.
Top Comment: Can some one send me the exact console command they used plz I can’t figure this shit out
Self driving car fail to stop at stop sign and run over mannequin
Main Post: Self driving car fail to stop at stop sign and run over mannequin
Top Comment: The issue isnt whether ANYONE would be able to stop in time (or not) for a kid running out like that. Its more about the fact that ANY car should have already stopped for the school bus which had a properly deployed stop sign.

Interesting, this is the first I've seen this particular quote. Years back I said, "Defeat can only occur if we agree to stop trying." It's a mantra I have chosen to live by.
[Question] How do I get over the fear of failure stopping me from trying?
Main Post:
I find, in many cases of my life, I dont even try due to my fear of failing. This is anything to playing competitive mode in video games, to asking my crush out. Any suggestions?

Try rejection therapy. It's where you set out to get rejected on purpose. An example would be applying and interviewing for a job you know you're not qualified for, or approaching an attractive stranger on the street and starting a conversation. The idea is to get rejected over and over until there is no longer a fear of it. The more we do something the less fearful it becomes. Personally I'm too scared to try it. But it sounds good.
